Responsibilities

I collaborate with venue staff to draft contracts and develop packages that best suit each client’s needs. I also create event layouts that provide options for comfortable venue use, as dictated by clients and their vision, but within the bounds of space and safety guidelines. And lastly, I provide creative insight and innovation while redesigning the media of the venue through styled shoots and rental item promotion.

Accomplishments

So far, I believe that collaborating with my supervisor to create a layout for a wedding that has a large number of guests and other requirements. It involved a lot of out-of-the-box thinking and it was fun to think creatively.

Learning experience

Getting out of your comfort zone is so important. I was very nervous going into this experience because I am very introverted and get anxious before meetings and phone calls. This position requires me to work on my communication both in person and online.

What advice would you give?

Be open to something that you may not have expected to do. I think that I was so close-minded coming into my major. I solely wanted to work with weddings and now that I have experienced multiple internships in different areas, I can see myself ending up in many different areas. You never know what you like until you try it.
