Responsibilities
My responsibilities included setting up and tearing down for events such as workshops, bridal showers, and even small weddings. I was also responsible for contacting guests and answering questions over email or social media. Throughout the summer I helped with social media content and retails as well!
Accomplishments
My greatest accomplishment was the work I did for our styled shoot at the farm! We staged the inside of our shop space where we also host events and it was a huge hit! People have been asking about the set up and have been wanting me to recreate it for them during their own events! This really showed me that I can create a beautiful event space!
Learning experience
I learned a lot about flowers and floral styling along with my new found knowledge of events! Floral styling is a large part of the company, and they did a lot to teach me different techniques to create the most beautiful arrangements! I wasn’t expecting to learn this much, but now that I know it I realized how important each element of an event is, not just the decor or planning process! This is something I can use personally and professionally!
What advice would you give?
My advice for future event management students is to embrace all areas of the industry. You may have a favorite element such as weddings or sports event planning, but there is so much out there to learn, don’t focus on just a small piece!
