Responsibilities

As a digital media intern for ISU Dining, I was responsible for supplying the ISU Dining marketing team with social media content. I styled and photographed plated meals and bakery items served on campus, produced and edited recipe tutorial videos for ISU Dining original recipes, and occasionally authored copy for social media posts.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment during my internship experience was completing a four-part video series that showcased cooking hacks that students could use in their home kitchens. The videos were entirely self-produced and featured original content that I created. The project allowed for me to exercise complete creative freedom and gave me the opportunity to see what I was capable of.

Learning experience

One of the biggest lessons that I learned from my experience was that you are not expected to know everything before beginning your job. As an intern, you are given the opportunity to gain new skills and should not be intimidated if you are given a task that you have never done before. Internships will allow for you to gain a better understanding of what you are already skilled at and what areas you can improve in.

What advice would you give?

I would advise future students in my major to take advantage of as many job opportunities and academic experiences as possible while being an undergraduate student. Having a variety of experiences will allow for you to discover what you are most passionate about and give you the opportunity to find the career that will best suit your skills.
