Responsibilities

I was the intern for The Salt Company Global team. The Salt Company is a student ministry of Iowa State and Cornerstone Church. Within the ministry students are able to go on a summer trip to SE Asia. I was specifically hired to help with sending these students and get a lot of logistics figured out. I was responsible to help students fundraise for the trip, as well as get new bank accounts set up and do small logistical task. We have been training and helping our students prepare for the summer. Each week in a meeting my supervisor gives me task to complete for our students and the summer trip.

Accomplishments

One of the biggest accomplishments for me this semester in my internship was also one of the greatest disappointments. I spent about two weeks planning a cultural experience weekend in Minneapolis. Students were to go to cultural sites, visit communities with other cultures and taste what it will be like overseas. Because of weather this trip was relocated to Des Moines and all of my planning went to the trash. I felt so accomplished making a trip for 120 students to go to Minneapolis and felt like the job I did was really good. I wish it could've happened but the planning was very helpful for my experience.

What advice would you give?

My advice would to always find something to do. There is always task that need to be accomplished and discipline yourself to work hard to do the small things. When you feel like there is nothing to do. Find something or ask how you can help.
