Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment for myself was stepping into a leadership role in general. I was very nervous before the internship of how to be a manager. By the end of my internship, I felt comfortable leading meetings and training our staff. I also felt comfortable coordinating events and planning projects for the gym. I am really grateful to Ben for allowing me the opportunity to step into a leadership role for my internship. I feel it has helped me take the next step to being able to run a gym of my own someday.

What advice would you give?

My advice is to choose an internship that makes you step out of your comfort zone. I was comfortable with the coaching aspect of an internship. This was something I had done for a few years. That is why I based my internship around managing a gym. This was something I had little experience doing and I was uncomfortable being in that role. I gained a lot of valuable experiences and lessons from putting myself in uncomfortable situations. Doing things that make you uncomfortable allow you to grow as an individual and a professional by giving you experiences that you would not of had otherwise. I think it is important for young professionals such as ourselves to try new things and challenge our selves so we can improve our skill set going forward.
