Responsibilities

During this internship I was responsible for completing tax returns as a volunteer in several counties around Iowa. To prepare for this, I was required to go through training and pass an exam to become a certified volunteer. It was also expected that I was able to go through the client's return with them to explain important information on their return.

Accomplishments

I think my greatest accomplishment throughout my internship was maximizing the returns the clients would get. I feel as though this was not a single time accomplishment, rather, an ongoing one throughout my time as an intern.

What advice would you give?

My advice to future students would be to make sure they understand the content that is being taught in classes, especially when you get into the 300-400 level classes. I utilized concepts and lessons from different classes throughout my internship that, without having paid attention, would have made my internship extremely difficult. So don't watch Netflix in class!
