Every day there is something new for me to do at the Chamber. My daily tasks change depending on what is going on and where my help is needed. I was able to assist with the planning and the execution of Pleasant Hill's Annual Dinner. It was a great experience being able to see everyone's hard work pay off. On top of helping for upcoming events, I do some minor clerical work and learn how a Chamber of Commerce is ran. I attend community events such as ribbon cuttings and help with community engagement.
So far, my greatest accomplishment has been seeing all of our hard work pay off for the Annual Dinner. There was an amazing turnout and everything went very smoothly. It was very rewarding being able to see all of the stages that went into planning this event.
What advice would you give?
My advice for future students is to be willing to help out and learn as much as you can. Ask questions if you do not understand something or want to learn more about the job itself. Be clear and honest when expectations are not being met. You want to get the best out of the internship, so do not be afraid to speak up.
