Responsibilities

My responsibilities as a shift lead/key holder include: opening and closing the boutique, cleaning and sanitizing, visual merchandising (mannequin changes), unpacking and steaming new merchandise, completing daily deposits, helping restock merchandise, completing markdowns and assisting customers with special orders and purchases.

Accomplishments

I take pride in working at this location. Being a newer store, people often go to the other store. Once customers come in they say they love our store more. I'm glad I can be apart of making their experience in our store great. I get an amazing feeling when I help a customer find the outfit they have been looking for especially for a special event. That outfit will always be connected to that event. I also take pride in setting up the mannequin outfits. When that item sells then it makes me know I'm doing something right.

Learning experience

I have learned what goes on behind the scene of a retail store. Such as: bank runs, deposits, and money changes from drawers and what it takes to receive a shipment and get the merchandise on the sales floor. Marking items down can take a few hours a day for about three days. Sometimes we also mark items out of stock which means they are discounted and sent back to a warehouse.

What advice would you give?

I would say hard work pays off. You can learn from everything you do. Don't talk yourself up, let others talk! There's always something to learn or improve on.
