Responsibilities

As the Education Intern for Des Moines Performing Arts, I am responsible for a lot. I develop curriculum materials for educational performances, support the execution of the Iowa High School Musical Theater Awards, research identified shows to create community engagement content, and capture various events through photography and videography.

Accomplishments

I would say my biggest accomplishment is being able to assist in the planning and execution of various DMPA events, such as the Iowa High School Musical Theater Awards, Fam Jam, and other audience engagement events. Through this position, I am given enough responsibility to understand this industry, and grow my portfolio in the process.

What advice would you give?

If an opportunity presents itself, take it. I had no intentions on looking for an internship this spring, but when this position was posted I could not pass it up. Just take a chance and go for whatever it is you want to do. You'll regret not trying.
