Responsibilities

During my internship I would assist the patternmakers with their work, as well as anyone else in the office that needed and extra pair of hands. I started out doing a lot of errands because I came in just two weeks before our Resort 2022 photoshoot. During that time I also did a lot of seam ripping and sewing on buttons, as well as cutting out patterns. After our photoshoot was done I mostly helped organize patterns and other important things around the office and also continued helping the patternmakers with anything they needed!

Accomplishments

I think my greatest accomplishment during my internship was being complimented on my hard work. I came in on Saturdays when they needed help and I was always up to do whatever anyone needed! This made me proud of myself because it gave me reassurance that I am a hard worker and it was noticed.

Learning experience

The greatest lesson I learned from my experience is that punctuality is very important- even in the creative world. I am not going to lie- I have issues with being on time (which I am working on as hard as I can) and it is a hard habit to break. But, I also learned that communication is key and without proper communication, things can go south quick and will set you back a bit. That is not good when you are in an industry that strives for perfection and is extremely busy all of the time. There is no room for mistakes!

What advice would you give?

I would say that you just need to always say yes! If you keep saying yes you will learn so much and I think it makes a good impression to be open to learning/doing new things. Don't be afraid to ask questions and for help, and don't take shortcuts! What you do is important and your work should show that.
