Responsibilities

My job as an intern at the Ronald McDonald House is creating ornaments for their Giving Tree that is placed at every McDonald's location in the area. These ornaments contain items that will help the organization be able to care for the families that stay with them. I also am creating an activity book for teachers to help teach their students about the pop tab program that Ronald McDonald does to raise money for their houses.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment from my experience is being able to create an activity book for Des Moines location that will be used to help spread the word about the great things the Ronald McDonald House does for all the families that walk through their doors.

Learning experience

My greatest lesson from this experience is to expect the unexpected. I came into this internship expecting to work mostly in the House but because of the pandemic, I've had to do most of my work remotely.

What advice would you give?

My advice to future students is to be adaptable. Our line of work may not always look the same every day and being able to adapt as obstacles are thrown our way will make you more successful in your future careers.
