Responsibilities

At Gateway Hotel and Conference Center the food and beverage department is in charge of managing and executing meetings, conferences, weddings, and holiday events held within the many meeting and ballrooms that we have on site. The main purpose of the food and beverage intern supervisor is to assist with the management of the multiple events that occur at the conference center everyday. The main responsibilities of the intern supervisor includes ensuring the proper/timely set-up of events held consecutively within multiple conference rooms, delegating tasks to staff to make sure requirements before, during, and after each event are carried out properly, communicating with the contacts, and billing each event afterwards.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishments from my experience at the Gateway involve improving upon my leadership skills. Prior to working at the Gateway I lacked hands on event experience and upon completing the supervisor internship I found a passion for leading groups and executing events from start to finish that of which I credit the Gateway for.

What advice would you give?

If you are interested in the events/hospitality industry I would strongly suggest working or interning with Gateway Hotel and Conference Center. I have gained an immense amount of knowledge concerning the industry due to the hands on experience that was provided to me both as an intern supervisor and working as a banquet server.
