Responsibilities

Creating and uploading new details to bridal binders and 17 hats. Complete set up and take down of all wedding tables, chairs, decorations, etc. Keeping the facility clean, picking up and dropping off linens, Inventory, Social Media, vendor relations, ordering beer and wine and assisting the other interns as well as my supervisor with anything else they might need.

Accomplishments

I've always been interested in social media marketing and at the chateau I have been given the responsibility of completely taking over the social media. Along with some help from other interns. Another great accomplishment is knowing that I'm able to set up an take down a 280 guest wedding.

Learning experience

I've learned a lot from this internship so far, however I would say the most valuable thing I have learned is to pay attention to detail. It's important in the wedding industry to pay attention to detail because in the wedding industry detail matters a lot. We measure the room and evenly space the tables to make sure everything is absolutely perfect for the couples big day!

What advice would you give?

The best part about an internship is that you're working in the real world compared to just learning about events in a classroom. With what I have learned from Iowa State l along with all of the experience I have gained from the chateau I am very confident that I will be able to thrive in the event industry no matter what I might be doing. Don't be afraid to ask questions and give ideas to people you work with in your internship. The more you learn at your internship the easier your job after college will be. Very fun experience, don't take this for granted.
