Responsibilities

My responsibility is a Youth Counselor at Woodward Academy. Working with youth (both male/female) ages 12-18 years old. I provide an emotional support, as well as safety and security for the students and making sure they learn how to hold themselves and others accountable for actions as well as being able to properly confront others on situations, and to all around help them to properly deal with their negative behavior and learning alternatives. These students that are there at Woodward are juvenile offenders.

Accomplishments

I would say my greatest accomplishment from my experience throughout this process so far is learning how to become more assertive, and be able to have that role as an authority figure.

What advice would you give?

My advice for future students would probably be don't be afraid to ask questions. Because the more questions you ask on details or situations that you might not know how to handle it will help you out tremendously. So ask as many questions as you can to make things the most clear to you. Because the staff or other employees there are there to also help you succeed.
