Responsibilities

As the Events Intern, I was responsible for providing the team with new and creative ideas in terms of event execution, design, set-up, and schedules. I was involved in event logistics before, during, and after events, and was in charge of gathering event materials and delegating set-up tasks to other staff. Not only was I involved with the on-site events, but I also got to coordinate with the volunteer event coordinator for our off-site annual Gala. This included procuring sponsorship items for our live and silent auctions, menu tasting and building, and event design.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment from this experience was the execution of our Annual Riverside Gala. From procuring 23 auction items, bundling the items into desirable packages, menu tasting and building, and event design, it all came together for a beautiful evening of fundraising for the camp.

What advice would you give?

If something isn't going as you expected, it is important to have that conversation early on about expectations so both sides can gain clarity. If you are seeing an issue with an employer, your schedule, or hours, chances are they are seeing it too so having those conflict resolution conversations early on is beneficial for everyone.
