File and arrange court cases in a manner that are easily accessible to CASA

Memorable experience

I was part of a case about a Latino family and was able to do a home visit with them. Language and culture are so important when trying to make a connection with families.

What did you not expect?

This opportunity has opened my eyes to different career paths where I can advocate for abused and neglected children. Aside from considering going to the school of social work, my experience with CASA has made me consider going to law school and becoming an attorney to advocate in the best interest of children.

What advice would you give?

Take this opportunity seriously! Learn as much as you can and try as many new things as you can. Also, don't stick with what you already know because it's an easy way out--Take on new challenges!

How did you learn about this experience?

I learned about this opportunity in HDFS 218.

Why did you want this assignment?

I really wanted to complete my internship with CASA to reassure myself of working with abused and neglected children. It was definitely worth a shot because I now know that this is the career path I would like to stick with.
