Responsibilities

I was in charge of: Supervise lifting sessions and conditioning workouts Read and discussed internship curriculum and professional development coursework Instruct proper technique of lifting variations and Olympic movements Set up and take down of weight room Weekly maintenance of the weight room facility Coaching athletes through daily lifting sessions

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment from my internship was being able to gain coaching experience across multiple collegiate sports. I was able to train and coach both male and female athletes.

What advice would you give?

My advice for future students that are interested in strength and conditioning: get as much experience as possible and go outside of your comfort zone. It is not an easy field to get into so plan out what you want to do ahead of time. If you are looking to get into coaching for the money, you are doing it wrong. You have to be able to turn your hard work into meaning. Value your experiences and learn from professionals who have been in this field for a long time. Your road to success is about the trip, not the destination!
