I am a BHIS (Behavioral Health Intervention Services) intern. I shadow caseworkers and soon I will get to do my own sessions with the kids and families. I get to interact with the families and kids during sessions. I also get to do office work like calling discharged families or referrals.
Getting to work with the African community through the grant pop up that we are hosting this summer has been great. It has really opened my eyes to another culture. I have gained a lot of knowledge with working in this community.
What advice would you give?
Always try new things even if it is scary and not what you want to do. It might be the best thing for you.
