My responsibilities include assist in planning and organization of events for Athletic Department, coordinate with four others the most efficient way to operate events, assist in implementing new social media campaign ideas, etc. To do all of these things I need to have hospitality skills, independent skills, as well as people skills and problem solving skills.
My greatest accomplishment from my experience so far is the lead role I have taken in both social media and the Cyclone Club Luncheons. I feel more independent ever since my supervisors gave more more responsibility. I take lots of pride knowing they trust me with more responsibility.
What advice would you give?
My advice for future students is to try multiple internships in different industries to figure out what you like to do most. For example, I have had internships in sports, non-profit, and country club/wedding planning. It is good to get as much experience as you can and build up your resume.
