Responsibilities

The responsibilities for the Alumni Association Lora & Russ Talbot event intern are: 1. Respond to phone and email inquiries 2. Draft agreements, invoices, banquet event orders, and diagrams 3. Day-to-day logistical planning including event staffing and student lists 4. Communicate with clients, caterers, vendors, and event staff 5. Assist with and supervise event setup and teardown including room setup, audiovisual, and equipment as needed 6. Serve as an onsite client contact, vendor contact, and supervisor during events. Includes supervising event staff, building maintenance, room temperature control, building access, and general building readiness 7. Event evaluation and follow-up 8. Provide marketing assistance 9. Provide social media assistance 10. Work as a shift lead on set-up or event shifts with Alumni Center Event Staff 11. General office duties and Alumni Center projects as assigned

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment is being able to plan events on my own now. I have learned what it takes to plan an event at the Alumni Association and it's all thanks to the event coordinators at the Alumni Association.

What advice would you give?

When you have an internship it is important to give it your all. This is where you learn about the event industry and how planning events really works, if you put in 100% effort you will walk away with so much knowledge and new experiences.
