Responsibilities

My job responsibilities include: communicating with vendors, volunteers, staff members, etc.; creating marketing content for upcoming races; organizing items for upcoming races; working with staff to set-up races; executing races; tearing them down; and repeating the process all over again.

Accomplishments

The greatest accomplishment from my experience is watching an event from the start to the finish. It's amazing to me to watch emails and meetings turn into set-up and tear-down. It all happens so fast and I think it's so fascinating!

Learning experience

The greatest lesson I've learned is that you can never know everything in the event industry. I am constantly learning, and so are my superiors. As times change and the industry grows, it's so beneficial to constantly learn and keep yourself ahead of the game.

What advice would you give?

My advice to future students-- always keep an open mind. The event industry is NOT easy by any means, but it is so fun. There is so much to be learned!
