Responsibilities

1. The ability to monitor blood pressure, heart rate, ECG interpretation and clearly demonstrate the proper use of the exercise equipment. 2. The ability to effectively motivate participants as an exercise leader. 3. Previous experiences involving hospital work, health/fitness programs, exercise testing, patient education, designing wellness programs and exercise prescription are helpful. 4. Willingness to act as a team player by responding positively to assigned tasks. 5. Have a professional attitude, be responsible and dress appropriately. 6. The student should participate in a personal health/fitness program. 7. Willingness to perform clerical tasks.

Accomplishments

Being able to successfully run multiple patients through their exercise programs on my own. This includes documenting their exercise, taking blood pressures resting and active, changing oxygen tanks (for pulmonary patients), monitoring EKG's, and leading strength exercises and stretching.

What advice would you give?

Ask as many questions as you can. This will help you better understand different terminology and experiences that you do not know or are not used to. I would also recommend trying to experience as much as you can while doing your internship. You can never have enough learning experiences.
