Responsibilities

I help with a variety of projects and tasks related to recruitment. I meet with prospective Human Sciences-Undecided students, and share the benefits of coming to Iowa State. I help with large open-house visit events to talk with prospective students and promote the College of Human Sciences. I communicate with prospective students via phone and email for a targeted yield campaign. Finally, I help train and work with our College of Human Sciences Ambassadors.

Accomplishments

I would say my biggest accomplishment would be connecting prospective students’ interest with one of our majors. It is so rewarding being a part of such an important decision in a student’s life. Student’s will come to our office or to our table at events and tell us they aren’t sure what they want to major in. After going through some of their interests, we are able to connect student’s with majors that really interest them. I also really appreciate being able to reassure students that it is perfectly acceptable to come to college as undecided!

What advice would you give?

Step out of your comfort zone - try new things, ask questions, and challenge yourself. Taking on your own project or doing something you haven’t don’t before can sometimes be scary, but it is worth it because that is how you will learn and grow.
