Getting to help coach the shotput and discus throwers as a volunteer coach, and helping athletes improve their lifting form to the point where I have had multiple of them come up to me to tell me how much they have improved after implementing what I had told them.
Not all students are athletes. Many of the students that take the weight lifting P.E class here are participating in some kind of sport, but some of them are just taking the class to try it out. Those students tend to have a bit of a learning curve and need some more time to learn certain movements. I also had a lot of practice adapting workouts on the fly for individual athletes that needed it.

If you are looking to get your coaching authorization for the state of Iowa, be sure to take some kind of coaching theory class while you are at ISU. This will allow you to skip taking another course and you can just apply for your authorization with your ISU coursework. I did not take a coaching theory class and it was the only thing that kept me from being able to avoid paying to take an online course.
