Responsibilities

My responsibilities as an intern at White Willow Events was to set up, tear down, and help coordinate events. The events that I got to be apart of ranged from weddings to graduation parties. I was able to learn more about the event planning business and see all of the hard work that goes on behind the scenes to make each event special.

Accomplishments

The greatest accomplishment from my internship would be when I got to create a grass wall by myself. This included the setting up of the wall, attaching the vinyl letters, adding greenery and flowers framing the wall, and shelving that held the glasses. Although some might not see this as the greatest accomplishment, it was more of a realization for me. The realization that I am capable of more than I ever thought to be. It shows my hard work, creativity, and motivation as an individual.

Learning experience

One of the greatest lessons that I learned from this experience is to not be afraid to fail. I have mentioned this in several of my reflections but that is because it is a big part of life itself. I learned that if I didn't understand something that was going on I couldn't be afraid to ask questions. Being new to the whole event planning industry was understandable by everyone involved and being able to ask questions was welcomed.

What advice would you give?

Advice that I would like to give future students is to not be afraid to go out of your comfort zone. In the end everything that you have worked for will be worth it and you will have gained very important knowledge that you can apply towards your future career.
