Responsibilities

Within my position as a Wedding Coordinator Intern, I assist with everything from tours and coordination to landscaping and bartending. Harpor's Vineyard hosts up to three weddings every weekend during our season from April to November. Leading up to the weekend, I help set the venue with tables, chairs, and linens. We also conduct a venue walk to ensure all spaces are clean and set for guests. In addition to weekend preparation, I assist in giving tours to couples and taking notes during final details meetings that will be used to create a timeline and layout. On our wedding days, I help with set up, coordination, serving/clearing, bartending, and tear down.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment, and by far the most rewarding aspect of my internship experience, was hearing from our couples and their guests about how amazing of an experience they had at Harpor's Vineyard. The kind words all mean so much to the team as we continuously work hard to elevate the experience.

Learning experience

The greatest lesson I learned from my experience at Harpor's Vineyard is that the details truly do matter. We go above and beyond to ensure we provide a memorable experience. Whether it is checking every lightbulb around the venue on a Thursday evening or resetting a chair that is out of place after decorating the morning of a wedding day, we do it time and time again because those are the little details that can transform an experience when it is all said and done.

What advice would you give?

The biggest piece of advice I can offer to students pursuing their education in Event Management is to keep an open mind and ask questions. As much as we are there as interns to help our company, our company is also there to help us prepare for the industry. I am incredibly thankful for the team at Harpor's Vineyard for helping me learn all the ins and outs of venue management and for always being available to answer questions and guide me where needed.
