Responsibilities

Analyzing weekly, monthly, quarterly, seasonal, and yearly reports, creating manual reports to comprehend sales for the Men’s Department, attending meetings to discuss volume drivers and new season products, collaborating with other corporate interns to create a “Shark Tank” pitch, and researching competitor sales to discover new opportunities for our business.

Accomplishments

Being able to put my AMD classes to use while working in a corporate setting. I worked with Excel daily - using a handful of retail math equations that I learned in AMD 376. Along with analyzing data, I was able to take those numbers and put them into words.

Learning experience

This experience wasn't ideal because of working during a global pandemic, but I have learned so much while being online for the past 7 weeks. I have learned that the retail industry is always thriving whether or not corporations are working in person or from home. Kohl's has done very well, especially with having all stores closed for a few months. A global pandemic might limit us on things, but retail will always be essential to the world.

What advice would you give?

Take any opportunities you can!! Your internship/first job might not be the exact position you want, but you have to work your hardest to show your passion & enthusiasm. Kohl's has shown me so many opportunities within the company that can lead me to so many exciting things. This experience has me so excited for my career after graduation!
