Responsibilities

While working with the Center for Advocacy & Outreach, I was responsible for assisting in a variety of programs throughout the office. Tasks I completed included: data collection for Blank General Pediatrics Clinic and programs, creating infographics for the clinic, presenting in community schools, meetings, and organizations, and creating "lesson plans" for school program I was involved in. As well large range of other responsibilities throughout the center.

Accomplishments

My supervisor and I were able to pilot a program in a Waukee elementary school for a few weeks and to see the program evolve was really rewarding to see your hard work pay off. I also had the opportunity to create info sheets for families in a program within the clinic that is currently being produced to be utilized in future clinic days in the upcoming months!

What advice would you give?

Don't be afraid to put yourself out there and reach out to your top agencies that you really want to work with, even if an internship is not posted they may be able to find a spot for you! As well as try to get as much exposure in different areas of your agency if possible, you have the opportunity to learn so much throughout the semester and take advantage of it!
