Responsibilities

Throughout my internship at Jarosh Performance, I coached youth, middle school, high school, and collegiate athletes during sports performance training sessions focused on speed, agility, strength, and power development. I led warm-ups, demonstrated proper exercise technique, and provided individualized coaching cues to improve movement quality and athletic performance. I also administered and recorded performance testing using VALD, OVR, and the USR athlete management system to track progress and personal records. In addition, I assisted with athlete evaluations, helped prepare progress reports, maintained a safe and organized training environment, and worked alongside the coaching staff to ensure each athlete received effective instruction and support throughout their training sessions.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment was building a presence to command a room. I have always been a confident individual but I was not able to take charge and lead a room when I first started. Now I am capable and comfortable leading and taking over a room with my voice and body language.

Learning experience

The greatest lesson I learned was that everyone is different and everyone takes teaching different. Some athletes require more explanation, some don't. Some athletes need you to push them, some athletes are too hard on themselves and you have to teach them a better way of thinking or how to approach not only training but life. Some athletes I need to stay "on top of" and some athletes respond to a more gentle and supportive response.

What advice would you give?

Flexibility is key. I would say being flexible and being able to handle stress is very important. Sometimes things change and they can change in an instant and its important to learn and be able to handle those types of situations.
