Responsibilities

Working for Story County Public Health - Scheduling appointments in EPIC - Answering COVID-19 hotline calls - Organizing ancillary supplies - Checking data in IRIS - Extra help at outreach clinics (Duties may vary due to current Public Health responsibilities)

Accomplishments

Making an impact on the community by helping out with the COVID-19 vaccine. It was rewarding to feel like we may be able to get through COVID and return to "normal" life eventually.

Learning experience

I learned how important it is to be flexible. Public and Community Health related jobs can change drastically because of things like pandemics.

What advice would you give?

This is a great experience for the Community and Public Health option. My advice would be to find an internship that relates as much as possible to the career you actually want to pursue. It's a good opportunity to see if you still want to follow that path.
