Accomplishments
My greatest accomplishment was getting to connect with my supervisors and professionals in the field to showcase my work ethic and build relationships in the human services field for post-graduation employment.
Learning experience
My greatest lesson is that the times are ever-changing, policy, contracts, and information is always changing, and you need to be ready to adapt to changes throughout your career.
What advice would you give?
My biggest piece of advice is to get out there and start working in the field while completing your degree. Working in the human services field while taking HDFS classes at Iowa State heightened my learning and allowed me to see what I was learning in a real-world situation. Plus, having experience in the field is crucial when trying to secure post-graduation employment.
