Accomplishments

Becoming a Manager on Duty or also known as a Banquet Captain has been a major accomplishment for myself. I was asked to step up into the position the summer prior to my second year working there. I have grown as a person and as a leader. Becoming a boss teaches you that time management and being organized is very important when working in the food & beverage business. With the position, I gained a responsibility for making sure the events ran smoothly and that my servers were doing their job and doing it well. I think overall the position has helped me grow as a person and be more confident in myself and with the given authority.

What advice would you give?

Advice I have for future students is to not be afraid to try new things/experiences. Try different jobs, different clubs and if you are not happy with your choice of major then change it. College is the time to try new things and if in the end of the four years you still don’t have it figured out, that is completely ok. Overall, find things that you like and immerse yourself in it with no worries of what others think. Put yourself out there.
