I am responsible for setup and execution of events from start to finish. This includes, but is not limited to, moving tables and chairs, vacuuming, dusting, setting linens/china/tableware, arranging table centerpieces, setting up and learning the basics of Audio-Visual equipment, plating and serving food/beverage, clearing food/beverage, and event teardown. I assist in creating task checklists, diagrams and delegating work orders to ensure successful execution of events. I assist with opening and set-up, serving and/or bartending for events, and closing events when needed. This may include the proper handling and counting of money, and depositing sales. Assuring event inventory is appropriate for upcoming events, and taking the necessary actions or communicating with the proper departments if additional items need to be ordered/arranged. Assist the Director of Sales and Restaurant Manager with social media marketing and other miscellaneous office tasks as requested

My greatest accomplishment during my internship was working such a wide variety of events throughout the whole summer. It really expanded my knowledge and experience in the event industry.

Learning experience

Something I learned through this experience was dealing with difficult customers/clients and how to still be positive and work in a professional manner with them. This was very eye opening for me and it taught me a lot and is great to know for a future event planner. I learned how a great event planning company should run. I learned how I should balance work with my personal life.

What advice would you give?

Keep an open mind and get as much experience as you can. That’s where you’ll learn the most!
