Responsibilities

-Create and present oral health presentations for kindergarten and second grade classrooms -Assist in Story County Dental Clinic -Assist in dental screenings and oral health education in elementary and high school classrooms -Promote and attend a variety of health fairs -Complete audits, data entries, and other various paperwork

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment was going into schools and providing education and resources to students who needed information on dentists office to help them care for their teeth. A lot of the students hadn't been to a dentist in years, and seeing them light up after hearing the provided education and resources that are available was a great reward.

What advice would you give?

What you put into this internship experience is what you will get out of it. Don't be afraid to ask to work on other projects that are interesting to you. During my time working with dental screenings, I was interested in a grant that was being worked on and had the chance to work on promotional activities for that project because I was interested in it and asked if I could help.
