Responsibilities

I had many different job responsibilities at Hunters Ridge. I worked in the pro shop on a daily basis so I checked golfers in, made tee time reservations, supervised outside staff and food and beverage employees, and assisted the general manager in planning and executing events held in the Lodge and on the golf course throughout the summer.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment was planning and executing the Ryder Cup. This is a two-day event held each summer at our course and forty of the members play in two teams against each other. I put all the members on two separate teams according to their golf scores and set up the Lodge. I catered in the breakfast and lunch for members before and after their golf round. This event ended up being very successful and the members had a great time!

Learning experience

I learned a lot of new lessons and skills from my time at Hunters Ridge. One of the lessons that stood out to me the most was how to deal with difficult customers and still provide excellent customer service. It can be hard having to deal with difficult customers but making the experience better for the customer is always important.

What advice would you give?

My advice to future students is to take advantage of all the opportunities that your internship has to offer! Every experience you encounter will help you grow as a person/worker. Try to make as many connections as you can when working at an internship because it will help you out in the long run when searching for a job.
