Responsibilities

I was in charge of organizing the beauty closet. With this I would open PR packages and place them on appropriate shelves. I would be in charge of filing old products as well as determining which products we could get rid of. I was also in charge of calling in products, hi-res images, credit info and press releases. I had to be in contact with many different PR agencies every single day. I was able to help prep for our October and November photoshoots. I was also in charge of all of their invitations. Beauty editors get invited to so many different events so it was important to keep up to date with these invites and let the editors know when an event was coming up. If they couldn't make it, it was my responsibility to let them know. I even got to attend an event with Dior. I also attended various different meetings such a pitch meetings, weekly meetings and desksides. Lastly, I transcribed many different interviews that our editors recorded.

Accomplishments

In the September issue of ELLE they needed a beauty product in the shops page and asked me to help find one. I found a Byredo perfume that I thought would look really good on that page and they ended up using that. It's pretty cool to see that in the magazine.

What advice would you give?

My advice to future students would be to do everything you do with passion. If you're not passionate about it then your heart won't be in it which I found to be true during my search for a summer internship. My passion was all there for this internship and it showed through everything I did.
