Responsibilities

The responsibilities I had throughout the summer involved documenting paperwork as well as working in production for the pizza crusts. The paperwork entailed work such as data entry and maintaining files. I also worked on their food fraud program and got documents from the suppliers. Working in production entailed many different tasks, such as testing equipment, crusts, and packaging, as well as packaging and boxing the crusts themselves.

Accomplishments

I think one of my greatest accomplishments was being able to complete all the work of the QA director when she was gone for a week. I was able to get all of my tasks and her paperwork done, and I still had time to work in production.

Learning experience

A great lesson I learned was to ask questions every day because it's better to learn how to do things right than to guess and do them wrong. I would think, "There's never a dumb question" and this helped me to be more confident when talking to people I don't know. I also learned it's important to work hard because people rely on the work you do and expect it to be done well. It feels good when you have met their expectations or even surpassed them.

What advice would you give?

Some advice I would give would be to take advantage of all the opportunities ISU provides and get involved in extracurriculars. I think it’s important to interact with other students and teachers and don’t be afraid to ask questions.
