Responsibilities

My responsibilities were dedicated to designing for Boy’s Sets (Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger) which means boys infant-7 year old outfits (pants and shirt). This included completing trend research, sketching, design graphics with the art team and putting together fabric standards to send overseas. Another large component of the internship included competing in an 8 week "shark tank" type of competition that was presented to the CEO, VP's and a panel of judges. My team was awarded the winners and our idea was then adopted by the company.

Accomplishments

The greatest accomplishment from my experience was working with my team mates for the competition and winning! It feels extremely rewarding to know a 3 billion dollar company adopted our idea and are saving 2.5 million dollars a year because of the system we created.

Learning experience

One of the greatest lessons I learned was to speak up! When I was in meetings and had ideas, questions or concerns I made an effort to always speak my mind which always worked out in my favor. My team connected with me for that reason and trusted me because they knew I wasn't afraid to ask, or answer questions!

What advice would you give?

For future students, my advice is to always act confident and no one will question you. Act as if your internship is not only your job but your passion and work as hard as you can, ask questions, create relationships with others, and bring innovation to the table. The more you care for the company the more the company will care for you!
