My greatest accomplishment was earning my CrossFit L-1 credential, allowing me to coach classes at my affiliated gym. Throughout this process, I saw my confidence as a coach increase almost daily. I learned useful warmup progressions, coaching cues to help clients perform movements better, programming tips, and much more.
The greatest lesson I learned was the importance of being prepared. Looking through the workouts the night before instead of right before the class time helped me understand the workout and the target stimulus. I also felt more confident as a coach knowing that I understood the workout more in-depth. It was also important to see which clients were coming into my class time so I could be prepared to offer scaling options for them if they could not perform the workout as prescribed.
