Responsibilities

I was the couture design intern so I assisted the design team. My responsibilities ranged a lot. I did tech flats, mood board research, draping, illustration rendering, cutting embroidery motifs, cutting markers, developing prints, etc.

Accomplishments

One day I got to work on creating embroidery for a strip of fabric to go on a dress. They gave me the flower motifs used and then I could resize them and arrange them on the strip of fabric. My supervisory really liked the work we did and showed our ideas to the head designer to choose from to create.

What advice would you give?

Going in to an internship go in with the mindset that you're there to learn. You may be doing jobs you don't like or things that seem unimportant. If you go in with the learning mindset you will realize that all the tasks you do are important and there's learning in every experience.
