Responsibilities

As a summer intern at White Willow Events, I worked along side a fun and experienced executive team who designed, planned, and coordinated all types of events! I got to learn how the process of designing a wedding months before looks like, to being there the day of and making sure every detail was perfect. I also got to help coordinate weddings, and spend the day with the bride and groom and their bridal party, to make sure everything ran smooth and efficiently.

Accomplishments

By the end of the summer, I presented a project to White Willow Events about a social media and marketing proposal. Over the summer, I paid close attention to not only White Willow's social media, but their competitors, and other event and wedding planners in the industry. I planned a photo shoot for the company's executive team, and proposed this idea to the company at our Intern Open House.

Learning experience

Be confident! Whether you're 100% sure you know what you're doing or not, be confident in yourself and your company. At the beginning of the summer, I felt that I was useless because I didn't know what I was doing. Now, I feel that I could be thrown into any type of situation, and I would work the best way I know how, thanks to my internship!

What advice would you give?

As an intern, become a sponge. Take in every moment, whether it's a stressful, hectic wedding set up, to tearing down a wedding late at night. These are experiences that you will not get anywhere else, and they show you how fast paced, yet fun this industry can be. A lot of responsibility may be given to you, or you may be thrown in to a situation you know nothing about, but embrace it, because these are incredible opportunities to learn from.
