Responsibilities

During this time frame, I am working closely with our volunteers. I am helping them train for what they are going to be doing at the event and sending them constant contact emails about updates. Also, I am working with the sponsorships to make sure they have their banner, have paid their part and contacting them about events.

Accomplishments

So far I have accomplished sending certain constant contact emails to our volunteers and our sponsorships. I have created a package deal for them so they can get a discount on tickets and food. I have organized all our banners with our sponsorships. With this, I look over to see who have paid and if they logo is correct on the banner. The last thing is we have met with Adventureland. This is where we are holding the event. We have discussed traffic, food, bathroom locations, restaurants, logistics, volunteers and more.

Memorable experience

We had a meeting with Adventureland and during the meeting we were at a restaurant and I felt very laid back. Everyone is so genuine and easy to get a long with. The meeting was not in a formal setting and people were just laughing and having a good time together and we also got a lot done that day.

What did you not expect?

I expected that I would be working with our Wish-Kids for the event but its the complete opposite. During my training I found out that only our family resource guide is only allowed to work with our wish kids.

What advice would you give?

Take advantage of the different opportunities on campus. This will help you in the long run and will look good on the resume as well. Lastly really utilize your advisors. They are there for you and they provide a ton of resources for you!

How did you learn about this experience?

I met with one of my sorority sisters about this and there was a girl 5 years older than me who had this kind of experience.

Why did you want this assignment?

I have always wanted to get involved with non-profits and I knew that Make-A-Wish has been very rewarding and I wanted that experience for myself.
