Responsibilities

As the Food & Beverage Intern, my primary responsibility is to provide immediate attention and proper food service to our Members and their guests. Daily functions include acting as a Snack Bar attendant at the Beach snack bar, acting as a formal dining server, assisting in service during banquets and major club events, and other various projects assigned by management. Due to the highly seasonal nature of this club, I have to exhibit the ability to cope with extensive hours and maintain a high sense of urgency in the service of our members. I have to have a positive attitude and willingness to learn are essential to the success of this internship, as well as imperative to the success of our operation.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment during my internship at the Maidstone Golf Club was being told by the general manager that I have come a long way and that I have done any amazing job this summer. Another great accomplishment is that one of the most difficult members to deal with, absolutely loves me. She normally is extremely hard to get a long with and doesn't generally like a whole lot of people so it means a lot to me that she likes me.

What advice would you give?

My advice for future students is to venture out and go different places for work. Working and living in New York has made me realize how different it is than Iowa. The people are different and the way of life is extremely different. Venture away from home and experience as many different places as you can.
