Responsibilities

Monitoring children and youth, and giving them a comfortable and safe environment. Have the ability to resolve conflict and show authority. Another responsibility is serving food to the clients and staff and cleaning up areas when needed. Finally, the responsibility to be a good role model to the clients.

Accomplishments

The greatest accomplishment during my internship is being able to show authority to the children while still being a friendly and supportive staff member.

Learning experience

The greatest lesson I have learned from my experience in my internship is to have a lot of patience. Patience is essential when working with children and youth because they can lie, give an attitude, and be hyperactive. Having patience in this line of work is important.

What advice would you give?

Having time to relax and take care of yourself is essential. Finding the time to do things you like and enjoy can help prevent stress and burnout. Self-care and meditation are also helpful in preventing yourself from breaking.
