Responsibilities
During Iowa State football we had a variety of tasks included setting up and cleaning the weight topic, setting up and ground out on the indoor field for speed and change of direction drills, assess players using force plates and nord boards, help take injured athletes through modified workouts, and help set out and collect catapult information.
Accomplishments
My greatest accomplishment was being able to be trusted to set up the lift on my own, and be able to asses platters sing the technology given. A lot goes into the lifts and everything moves very fast, so being able to do this effectively was a big achievement. Being trusted to test the players and provide them insight on how they did was also great.
Learning experience
I learned how the tier system works in terms of how to build a strength and conditioning plan. Every plan included this system and we were even given that opportunity to make a plan ourselves, which I learned a lot from. I also learned how fast paced a division 1 football program moved, as there were a lot of lift groups and we were always on our toes.
What advice would you give?
One of my charge pieces of advice is to look for and obtain an internship as early as possible. Not only does this boost your resume and help you learn even more about the topic in general, it also helps you decide if you like your profession or not, as well as giving you the ability to explore options that you might be have been thinking about before.
