Responsibilities

As a Youth Development Professional, my responsibilities encompassed program planning and implementation, leading volunteer initiatives, providing guidance and support, and ensuring the safety and well-being of club members. These responsibilities allowed me to contribute positively to the growth and development of the young individuals I had the privilege to work with.

Accomplishments

Being awarded Staff of the Month and forming meaningful connections with the children were two remarkable accomplishments that affirmed my commitment to the internship and its mission. These achievements served as a testament to my hard work, dedication, and ability to create a supportive and engaging environment for the children.

Learning experience

The greatest lesson I learned from working with young adolescents taught me the immense significance of patience and empathy in fostering meaningful connections. It also taught me the importance of being attuned to their specific needs and circumstances, allowing me to provide adequate assistance.

What advice would you give?

I would advise future HDFS students to embrace stepping out of their comfort zones. I highly encourage these students to actively seek opportunities to work or volunteer with individuals of different age groups. By doing so, they can gain valuable experiences, discover where they best fit, and enjoy working the most.
