I am the manager of the interns, and the event planner's assistant. I communicate with the interns, and make sure that they know what is going on and where they need to be. As the event planner's assistant, I do a lot of communicating with vendors. I make sure that they know what is going on for the week of the wedding, and I also set up meetings and tours with potential vendors. I attend all meetings with brides, and take notes for my boss. I also am on site during the rehearsal dinner and the day of the wedding to make sure that I can do anything for my boss.
I feel like I have accomplished so much during my experience. I have been able to gain confidence in my self and my skills. I have been able to put my education to action which feels good. The greatest accomplishment has been just seeing the gratitude of our brides and their families. It is so rewarding to see people appreciate your hard work.
What advice would you give?
Don't be afraid to reach out to any company that you are interested in. No matter if you feel like you're not ready for an internship, reach out! I made a list of my "dream" internships, and I emailed one of them and I got an internship! Also, if you are interested in the wedding industry take the Wedding Class (Event 373) before you intern with a wedding planner. It has been so helpful for me during my internship.
