Responsibilities

My responsibilities include assisting in the office with various types of event prep from DIY crafting, venue searches, vendor confirmation, client outreach and more. I shadow the lead event planner at client meetings, vendor meetings, and venue walkthroughs. I also assist with events in person and execute the tasks as planned.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishment was working a wedding that took place on the bride's family farm. We encountered several issues that made the event a challenge. The ceremony and reception both took place outside in extreme heat, the table centerpieces kept falling due to the wind, and the horse and carriage ride moved very slowly transporting guests from the cocktail hour space to the reception tent location. I feel this was my greatest accomplishment because we were able to come up with solutions to address these issues and even with the difficulties we encountered, the bride and groom were grateful for everything we did and the wedding was a success.

What advice would you give?

My advice for future students is to choose an internship carefully. Look for a company that will allow you to get as much hands on experience as possible. Doing so will allow you to know that you are following the career path that is right for you.
