Responsibilities

During my internship here at Anytime Fitness in Huxley, I took over our personal training/group training program. This included spending time with clients in 1 on 1, 1 on 2, or group sessions. During these sessions, we do multiple styles of training based on the individuals wants and desires. This can range anywhere from powerlifting to HIIT to just general fitness and well being. As well as doing the training here, I am also responsible for outreach, customer acquisition, and facility upkeep.

Accomplishments

My greatest accomplishments from my internship are just helping people succeed with their goals. Whether its losing 20 pounds, breaking through plateaus to hit a new PR, or even gaining the ability to walk on a treadmill, it's hard to pick a specific accomplishment. I think any goal that people set and achieve is important and helping people meet those goals would be my biggest accomplishments.

Learning experience

I learned that every person is different in their ability, willingness, and attitude. You have to work around multiple factors to help people achieve their desired outcome. We may learn this in a classroom setting, but it is even more important to apply an aspect of personal connection as well as apply fundamental movement principals when working with people day to day from every walk of life.

What advice would you give?

Be friendly and upfront with the people you work with. Everyone has goals and wants to achieve something when you first meet and start working with you. If you make the experience enjoyable they look forward to coming back. This helps them stay consistent and achieve their goals.
