Regular assistance of weight room activities at Eden Prairie High School as well as assistance with one-on-one/small group training. Design and leadership of exercise programs for multiple sports teams including, but not limited to: Football, Basketball, Hockey, and Dance. Work with youth camps (4th through 8th grade) with first time teaching of weight room activities. Sole responsibility over the strength and conditioning training of the Eden Prairie Dance Team.
Being able to confidently design a workout for any given athlete and/or sports team on any given day without a second thought.
What advice would you give?
Take the time to think not only about the coursework and the research you will learn about in class, but how you would apply that knowledge in various different scenarios. Think about how to deal with injured athletes, how to deal with athletes with difficulty motivating themselves, athletes that want to question you. You will always face a challenge each day, but the content you're taught is as if you are in a perfect world. Challenge yourself and think about how you will handle those unique scenarios no one is teaching you about.
